Prescription
Required

Swaps the harsher azole drugs for grapefruit seed extract against cysts, and adds Cryptolepis — an herb that kills growing and persister Lyme in the lab and also addresses Babesia.

The regimen

ComponentTypical adult dose
1
Clarithromycin (Biaxin)
Macrolide
Dose: 500 mg, 1 pill 2×/day
2
Grapefruit seed extract
Cyst forms
Dose: 250 mg, 1 pill 2×/day
3
Cryptolepis
Persister & growing Lyme; Babesia
Dose: 5 ml 3×/day

Duration: Continue until well

Key points

  • Grapefruit seed extract is usually better tolerated than tinidazole or metronidazole
  • Cryptolepis covers persister Lyme and can also treat a Babesia co-infection
  • A good choice when azole side effects are a problem

Why this combination

Dr. Ross builds every regimen around four rules: cover all forms of the germ (spirochetes and round-body cysts), cover Lyme inside and outside cells, combine drugs that attack in different ways, and hit growing and persister phases at the same time.

He stresses that antibiotics alone are rarely enough — immune, sleep, gut and detox support (see Foundation & Herx Support) are essential to reach the success rates he reports.
