Artemisinin pharmacokinetics and efficacy in uncomplicated-malaria patients treated with two different dosage regimens

Gordi T, Huong DX, Hai TN et al.

In 77 adults with malaria, 500 mg of artemisinin daily for 5 days cleared parasites faster than a slowly escalating dose. The body cleared artemisinin significantly faster by day 5 than on day 1, so blood levels drop with continued daily dosing — useful context for short artemisinin pulses.

Summaries are our plain-language reading of each abstract. Lab (in-vitro) and animal results don't always translate to people. Read the original papers and discuss them with your clinician.
